Goodman Praises Waukegan Environmental Action

Lee Goodman, Candidate for U.S. Congress from the 10th District in Illinois, sent his congratulations to Waukegan’s mayor and City Council for the recent actions to protect the environment. “By voting to complete the cleanup of the Yeoman Creek landfill, which is located in a residential neighborhood, the City acted in the best interests of the people.”

Goodman was critical of the attempts by Congressman Mark Kirk to delay the cleanup effort. “Kirk has been playing politics with pollution in the Waukegan area for a long time,” said Goodman. “It is typical of the approach Washington Republicans take to environmental problems. They try to force solutions without consulting the people who will be impacted. They put a label like “Clear Skies” on their proposals, and overlook or conceal the facts. Kirk claims to be a friend of the environment, but friends don’t dump toxins in people’s back yards.”
