Goodman Calls for Expanded 9/11 Inquiry
As President Bush and Vice-President Cheney testify before the 9/11 commission, Lee Goodman, Democratic candidate for U.S. House of Representatives (10th District, IL), is calling for an expanded inquiry. The information that has come out so far indicates the need for a more in-depth investigation of the events leading up to the attacks on September 11, 2001. The panel, not the Bush administration, should be controlling the proceedings. Witnesses should not be allowed to filibuster, the way Condoleeza Rice did. The President and Vice-President should be required to testify separately, as the panel originally requested. Their testimony should be on-the-record and under oath. The American people deserve a thorough examination of the facts, said Goodman.
Goodman, an attorney, is a former prosecutor and was head of Illinois securities fraud investigation unit. It is preposterous that the people who are under investigation should be allowed to limit the investigation, said Goodman. My opponent voted against having a truly independent, in-depth investigation. The public insisted upon one, and we should get it.
