Goodman Supports Ban on Non-Verifiable Voting Machines

Lee Goodman, Democratic candidate for U.S. Congress from the 10th District in Illinois, announced his support for the League of Women Voters’ objection to voting machines that cannot be checked for accuracy. The League recently withdrew its prior endorsement of electronic voting because investigations showed the machines were not reliable and could be manipulated.

“If voters do not have confidence in elections the elections are a waste of time,” said Goodman. “I embrace new technology when it can do the job it is intended for. But using these machines now would be like driving a car that didn’t have a steering wheel or brakes. They are not safe, and the damage they could cause would be calamitous.”
